The Connecting Point School of Massage and Spa Therapies - Esthetician Program
Highlighting the healing and wellness aspects of facials,
our 600 hour professional esthetician program emphasizes natural and effective
beauty therapies, giving graduates the practice and experience to succeed in
the modern-day spa and beauty industries.
The Connecting Point offers an Esthetics program that is licensed by the
Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools, Dept. of Higher Education.
Our program is designed to prepare students to gain entrance and pass the
Colorado State Board Exam for Licensure as an Esthetician.
Length
Length of Program: 20 Credits; 600 Hours
Cost
Cost of Program: $4,200.
Payment plans may be set up. All tuition must be paid in full before
certificates of completion and state board exam papers are presented.
Supplies
Cost of Supplies: $275.
This is the minimum supply fee based on in-class supplies, books, and a modest
budget for the kit you will need to take the state board; students may wish to
budget more for equipment and business start-up costs.
Students are expected to purchase their own books and state board exam kit supplies.

Program Description
The objective of our Esthetician Program is to provide students with the
skills, information and training necessary for an entry level job position as
an Esthetician and to pass the Colorado State Board Exam. Graduates will be
competent and confident in the practices related to the Skin Care Industry.
Courses
Facials & Skin Care
This course offers students the instruction and feedback necessary to become
confident with all aspects related to the professional Facial, including
massage techniques, skin care analysis and to have and provide general
knowledge on how to care for the skin, its health, growth & repair
processes.
Topics Include: Theory, Practice, and Benefits of Facial Massage; Anatomy and
Physiology; Histology of the Skin; Pathologies of The Skin; Basic Facial and
Skin Care Techniques such as The European Facial, and Advanced Facial and Skin
Care Techniques such as The Rejuvenation Facial; Complementary Therapies such
as Reflexology, Spa Therapies, Aromatherapy, Warm and Cool Stones; Product
Ingredients and Analysis; Skin Analysis and Consultation; Chemistry of The
Skin; The Basics of Electricity and Light Therapy.

Facial Makeup
The objective of this course is to offer students instruction and experience in
consultation and application of facial makeup for the purposes of
beautification, correction or camouflage. Included is instruction on
application and removal of artificial eyelashes as required for Colorado State
Board Exam.
Topics Include: Introduction to Makeup; Overview of Makeup Services, such as
Wedding and Special Events, Makeup Artistry; Business Aspects of Makeup
including Product Sales; Cosmetic Ingredients; Color Theory; Facial Features
and Face; Artificial Eyelashes; Lash and Brow Tinting.

Hair Removal
After completion of this course the student will feel confident and
knowledgeable in all aspects of temporary hair removal. Theory & Practice
of safe, effective removal of unwanted hair by way of waxing & tweezing is
emphasized.
Topics Include: Review Anatomy and Physiology of Hair; Methods of Hair Removal;
Theory and Practice of Temporary Methods of Hair Removal including Waxing,
Tweezing, and Sugaring; Client Consultation; Safety Issues and Contraindications

Laws, Rules, and Regulations
The course objective is to provide the student with an overall understanding of
the laws, rules and regulations of the cosmetician industry with emphasis on
the practice of Esthetics. Covered are local, state, and federal laws and
statutes.
Topics Include: Federal & State Laws, Rules & Regulations; Colorado
Board of Barbers & Cosmetology Rules & Regulations; Colorado State
Board Exam Preparation

Management, Ethics, Interpersonal Skills, and Salesmanship
Provided here is the experience and tools necessary to operate within a
spa/salon setting with proper ethical, managerial and salesmanship skills,
and/or how to successfully own and operate ones own business with integrity,
success and sound business principles. Course includes goal-setting, positive
life skills & habits, and self-care techniques.
Topics Include: Professional Conduct and Image; Beauty, Wellness, and Balance;
Management and Ethics; Professional Organizations Code of Ethics; The Business
of Esthetics; Operating a Successful Skin Care Business; Communication and
Human Relations; Salesmanship Skills and Traits; Planning for the Future;
Positive Life Skills and Habits; Self-Care

Disinfection, Sanitization, and Safe Work Practices
This course provides competence in properly maintaining a safe working
environment within the spa for the professional and the consumer.
Sterilization, Sanitization & Disinfection with emphasis on safety is
covered.
Topics Include: Disinfection/Sanitation Basics; The Importance of Sanitation in
the workplace; Standards and Regulations; Sterilization, Sanitation, and
Disinfection; Bacteriology and Infection Control; Health and Safety for the
Consumer; Bacteria, Viruses, and Parasites; OSHA; Chemical Agents; Safe Use and
Handling.
